WHY KALIMANTAN
BBC News reported from Central Kalimantan on 20 October 2026 on forest, swamp and peatland fires and their impact on local communities. TREE’s proposed response is community-led restoration with native species and long-term care.
Restoration is not a substitute for protecting existing forests and preventing fires. Field access, species selection and planting dates will follow local partner guidance. No completed TREE planting is claimed yet.
